Cedar Forest Outreach

Although the start of school may look a little different this year, elementary school kids in Spotsylvania County will start school on August 17th. CFES kids will need some school supplies no matter where their learning takes place, and we also anticipate that at some point this year they will return to their classrooms. Therefore, RCC is still partnering with Cedar Forest this summer to make sure all of the kids are able to start the school year with the supplies they need to set them up for success.

School Counselor Brooke Marshall did indicate that pencil boxes and pouches will really be helpful this year while kids are learning at home. She also said cheap headphones/earbuds will also be very important students will have access to computers but they may need the headphones in order to be online with the teacher and stay focused. 

Below is a list of the school supplies they will need for students this year. Check out this list, or download the printable shopping list to take with you as you shop. A printed version of this list will be available at the church as well, so you can grab one if you’re at church on Sunday or at any point during the week.

Since it’s been such a difficult year for everyone, now more than ever it’s important that families know they can get the help they need to make sure their kids are ready for school. Thank you in advance for your generosity toward this mission. Our prayer is that all of the kids at Cedar Forest start school on the first day knowing they have all the supplies they need to start the school year off right!

Needed Supplies:

• Cheap headphones/ear buds*
• Pencil bags*
• Supply/pencil boxes*
• Composition notebooks
• Glue sticks
• Scissors
• Crayons (16 or 24)
• Plastic pocket folders (with or without prongs)
• Colored pocket folders with prongs Highlighters
• Dry erase markers
• Glue bottles
• 3×5 index cards
• Pencils
• 3-subject notebooks

* Important for at-home learning

Please note: NO backpacks, notebook paper, markers, colored pencils, or 1-subject spiral notebooks are needed this year. Thank you.

Please drop donated supplies in the church lobby no later than Sunday, August 2nd. The supplies will be delivered to Cedar Forest on August 3rd. If you’re doing your shopping online these days, feel free to have donations delivered to the church at 10835 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
